It was truly extraordinary to see the gorgeous details at each of the weddings that I photographed in 2016.
Here are just a few of my favorite details from the year:
This gorgeous wedding dress detail shot was seen at an Oheka Castle wedding this winter. Oheka Castle is especially beautiful in the wintertime, with the crisp light flooding through the windows. I love how the lightness and darkness are juxtaposed here against the soft lines of the wedding dress.
At this gorgeous Stamford Yacht Club wedding, the bride hung her dress in the window of her bridal suite. I love how the texture of the dress is set against the texture of the background. The black and white treatment further emphasizes the lace of her dress, and really shows off that gorgeous midday light coming through the windows.
It was such a joy to visit Ireland for the first time for this gorgeous wedding. I had a few moments alone with the bride and groom’s wedding bands before the ceremony, and couldn’t resist creating a dramatic ring shot just for them!
I am so glad to see the trend of long-sleeved gowns returning! This Whitby Castle bride had the most amazing long-sleeved lace bolero over her dramatic wedding gown, making it look like a long-sleeved dress during the ceremony but revealing her strapless dress during the reception! I love this image of the mother of the bride helping button up her daughter’s gown. Classically journalistic moments like these are among my favorites on a wedding day.
Quiet moments are amongst my favorite moments on a wedding day. I love this image of this Connecticut bride as she prepared to put on her wedding day jewelry. The softness of the light perfectly enhances the softness of her delicate gesture.
The Guggenheim Estate at Sands Point Preserve is one of my favorite new wedding venues! It was an enormous treat to work with my favorite team at Daughter of Design on this incredible fall wedding. Just look at this light And this space! There were pockets of dramatic light everywhere – and you know how much I love brilliant dramatic light!
